On March 13, La Jolla Village Merchants Association and La Jolla Riford Library celebrated La Jolla’s love of reading with a Spring Forward Scavenger Hunt. The event named in honor of the first day of Daylight Saving Time attracted almost 400 people of all ages who explored the village while searching for clues to celebrate La Jolla’s love for reading. The event featured gifts from Gepetto’s, Warwicks, Buddhi Yoga, and several community organizations. Energized by music provided by Ron Jones, Voice of La Jolla guest were treated to refreshments and the day’s highlight — storytime with Ms. Katia, Youth Librarian, La Jolla Riford Library, and Ms. Sonia from Warwick’s. Children who participated in the hunt were rewarded with a free ice cream cone from Häagen-Dazs.
Building on the success of Spring Forward, LJVMA, Riford Library and Warwick’s will again team up for a similar event on November 6 to commemorate setting our clocks back one hour. The Fall Back Storytime Scavenger Hunt will again feature interactive activities and stories for all ages. There will be prizes and treats for all who participate. All ages are welcome!
