DESCRIPTION:PEEC for TEENS (13–18 years old)  with a different special guest artist every week \nCheck the event website for this week’s special guest! \nPEEC is a free program for teens\, who are interested in art-making as an enrichment activity that goes beyond making crafts. The aim of the program is to provide a space for youth to create art\, share stories\, collaborate\, explore\, and identify new ways to use art in their lives. The Athenaeum offers facilities\, resources\, guidance\, instruction\, and support. The open studio program includes a rotation of multidisciplinary art instructors offering workshops in their respective fields\, as well as curricular activities that involve the use of the Athenaeum library resources as a starting point for projects. Activities include drawing\, painting\, research\, and introduction to various media. \nThe program is free and reservations can be made by phone (858-454-5872) or email Maura Walters at mwalters@ljathenaeum.org. The main venue for the program is the Athenaeum’s art studio at 1008 Wall Street\, entrance on Girard Avenue.

With a career that has spanned over three decades\, Jay has become an artist that is very difficult to define. Never wanting to rest on his accomplishments\, Jay has always pushed himself to be more than just a comic. \n  \nAfter landing his dream job of Saturday Night Live\, it appeared as though Jay had reached the height of comedic success. Little did he know that just three years later\, he would be cast opposite Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire and that same year co-star with Jennifer Anniston in Picture Perfect. Now the world that knew “comedian Jay” was quickly introduced to the “actor Jay.” Never wanting to choose one career over the other\, Mohr has brilliantly balanced both acting and stand-up comedy as roommates in his brain. \n  \nAdditionally\, he has continuously added other genres to his journey and wrote the best selling book Gasping for Airtime about his time on SNL and his battle with panic attacks throughout his tenure on the show. After 25 films and starring in his own groundbreaking series produced by Joel Silver and the late Ted Demme (Action) he starred in the CBS scripted comedy Gary Unmarried\, which was critically acclaimed and was on for two seasons. \n  \nJay has guest starred in over 50 different television dramas and comedy series episodes\, but his most recent turn on an episode of Dick Wolf’s Law and Order: Criminal Intent as a Charlie Sheen type character ripped from the headlines\, has garnered him the most attention and respect. “He’s really good” said Wolf\, “it’s kind of odd because he is known as a comic and this is a highly dramatic role that a lot of dramatic actors would have had a very hard time eschewing and he does a great job.” He added “… you know\, it’s like if you’re playing tennis against a club champion\, you’re game should go up… the better the competition the better the game… and I think Jay really came to play.” \n  \nThroughout his journey\, Jay still loves performing stand-up comedy it’s in his blood\, his bones and his DNA. His shows blend hip-hop\, acoustic rock\, funk\, improvisation\, and comedy. \nMonette Marino \nMonette Marino began drumming at age eight and has spent the majority of the last 20 years studying under master drummer Mamady Keïta from Guinea. Together they have visited over 20 countries on six continents. She branched out as a solo artist and continues to explore drumming systems with a deep respect for the cultural heritage preserved through the language of the drum.

DESCRIPTION:The Boarte Piano Trio was enthusiastically created by three of the most dedicated and outstanding Polish musicians of our time. The promisingly gifted pianist Konrad Skolarski\, the breathtaking virtuoso Jarosław Nadrzycki \, and the sensational cellist Karol Marianowski are all acclaimed artists in their country and abroad. They are laureates of many international music competitions\, each with a long history of performances all over Europe\, North and South America\, as well as Asia. \nThe members of the Trio have won many prestigious international competitions\, and have also received numerous awards for their previous recordings\, including the Supersonic Award of the German magazine Pizzicato\, five Diapasons d’Or of the French Magazine *Diapason and several nominations for the Fryderyk award. The three Boarte Trio musicians have also performed with leading orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra\, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra\, the MDR Sinfonieorchester\, and the Simón Bolivar Orchestra of Venezuela. \nAll three artists are Graduate Students of the Hochschule für Musik Köln\, the Boston Conservatory\, the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw\, and the I.
