This week in the Limelight we are celebrating Teuscher Chocolates San Diego! Located on Girard Ave. on the second floor, this cute, upscale shop has a variety of gluten free chocolate options that will satisfy any chocolate lover.

Teuscher sells delicious truffles and pralines that come all the way from Switzerland. For those who are not sure what chocolates they like or want to try something new, Teuscher offers pr-arranged gift boxes so you can try a variety without stressing about what to choose. For those who want to be more specific in their choices Teuscher also offers the option of choosing each piece of chocolate in an assorted box.  The staff and owner at Teuscher are extremely welcoming and knowledgeable and ready to help those who need it. The first time I wandered into Teuscher, lured by the sight and smell of the chocolate, I was a little overwhelmed about the new and various flavors that were offered. But I didn’t have to worry, the staff was extremely helpful and asked me about my tastes and made suggestions, explaining the specific tastes of each chocolate and its ingredients. I loved their suggestions so much I came back for more, walking in with my head held high, a new chocolate connoisseur because of all the information they shared with me on my previous visit.

Teuscher today is getting in the holiday spirit, offering Thanksgiving themed gift boxes that would be a great gift to bring to a family dinner or to impress some new in-laws. They also do an amazing job shipping to various location throughout the US, so you can send a special gift to your family that might be too far to visit this year, to let them know you’re thinking of them. Raymundo’s is run by a husband-and-wife duo that is not new to the food industry. Raymundo (yes THAT Raymundo) has worked as a cook for over 25 years and wanted to take the next step in his career by opening this restaurant to showcase his and Leticia’s skills in the kitchen and set an example for their kids of where hard work and dedication can accomplish. And they have not disappointed!! Their food is made from scratch and tastes like a homecooked meal. Their menu is extremely diverse, with many simple Mexican dishes like tacos and burritos, to dishes like enchiladas and a chorizo plates. And don’t forget to grab a Jarritos to go with the meal!

Raymundo’s doesn’t have any special but that’s because they keep fair prices all year round! Raymundo’s is proud to offer delicious Mexican food that is easy and fast to grab, while also being affordable so you can always come back for more.

Where does Raymundo’s see themselves going in the future? They plan on expanding! They hope to increase their hours and hire more employees so they can continue to grow with the La Jolla community.            Pinpoint Cafe had a unique start selling food and drinks at Jiu Jitsu tournaments. Sisters Caroline and Aline soon expanded their business to a physical location in Del Mar, and then another right here in La Jolla! The beauty of Pinpoint Cafe is that it is not just another chain coffee shop that’s cold and impersonal. Pinpoint Cafe baristas are knowledgeable and ready to give any recommendations on food and drinks that they have to offer. They strive to create lasting relationships with their customers, remembering names and orders, ensuring your morning is just a little bit less stressful.  (And they know to never comment on what you look like before you have your morning coffee.) They also have a dog mural of customers puppies, so next time you stop by make sure to bring your dog so you can both be a part of the Pinpoint experience! 

    Pinpoint Cafe has been a staple in La Jolla during the pandemic. They were there the first days after everything shut down when the streets were quiet and abandoned. But, they determinedly held their doors open and provided top quality coffee and food to everyone who needed it. They continue to practice strict cleaning habits and ensure that everyone that visits stays safe and healthy. COVID-19 hit the food industry hard but Pinpoint Cafe saw it as an opportunity to connect with their customers and improve their efficiency and take-out procedures! 

            What does the future hold for Pinpoint Cafe? They plan to double in size by 2022! So don’t worry that your favorite coffee place is going to be too busy to make time for you. Francesco Burnazzi, from Rimini, Italy dreamed of bringing piadina to Southern California. With the help of restaurateurs from Ambrogio 15 and Lauren Turton, his dream was realized in the creation of Ciao Ciao Piadina. Ciao Ciao takes a new take on Italian food in La Jolla, serving piadinas, Italian tapas, and bruschettas. These delicious foods are not only tasty but they are also light foods that leave you satisfied and won’t make you go running to the gym after eating them. And for those of us who like to enjoy a good wine, Ciao Ciao Piadina also serves imported wines from Italy. And don’t forget about the spritzes! These drinks are not only great to take pictures of, they’re also delicious to drink!

La Valencia opened in 1926 during the golden era of Hollywood and the co-owner, MacArthur Gorton, was involved with Hollywood’s new moving picture films. This connection led to La Valencia and La Jolla being featured as location shots in these amazing new films and being called an “undiscovered, unspoiled jewel.” La Valencia’s history with Hollywood still holds to this day, and it is still the unofficial “hideout” for many of Hollywood’s stars. 

La Valencia today includes unique guestrooms, award-winning cuisine, and an excellent team that is dedicated to providing the best service to guests! Right now La Valencia is hosting brunch at the Med every Saturday and Sunday 9am to 2pm and is serving Piper-Heidsieck Champagne!
